Included in General Admission | Get ready to rock this Fall! From electrifying live performances to cool artifacts, we're giving musicians and music lovers alike a backstage pass to the science behind your favorite music.

Featuring Guitar: The Instrument That Rocked The World, a touring exhibition of the National GUITAR Museum, the season of music science explores the cultural and physical history of the guitar—from lutes and ouds to modern high-tech instruments—and how the instrument became the cultural icon it is today. You can even climb aboard and play the nearly 44-foot long guitar—the largest in the world!

“The guitar is the most enduring icon in American history,” according to HP Newquist, the executive director and founder of the National GUITAR Museum. “It has been around longer than baseball, basketball, soft drinks, and sports cars. This Exhibition is a celebration of all that, and more.”

What else is happening? We've got a live stage show that'll make you think about sound like never before with the help of musical Tesla coils, water goblets and even a propane-powered Ruben’s Tube. Then try you can try your hand at making music by breaking the beams of the Laser Harp, trying out your music mixing skills on touchscreens, collaborate on sound machines, and even “see” sound with an LED piano.

OMSI’s season of music science runs through January 10, 2016. Get ready to make some noise! When We Met performs from Noon-12:45 on Sunday, Dec. 20th.
