People ask how "When We Met" met. We met in 2010 (although we didn't form our band till 2014) at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland, Oregon. Bryan and Melissa were both attending a concert there for the 90's rock band, James. Melissa (I) was there by chance with a friend who was visiting from Arizona and Bryan was there for his cousin Rachael's b-day. If it was not for Rachael we would have never met............
Rachael passed away this morning, 10/21/2018, taken too soon and our hearts are heavy.
Bryan and Rachael grew up together and although as adults we tend to drift apart, whenever they saw each other (we have been neighbors on and off for 6 years) they would make a little joke or have a little catch up session. The laughter they shared from their inside jokes gave them that sort of special connection you have with a childhood best friend. From growing up together they shared a special bond, I'm glad I got to witness some of the closeness they shared and I am forever grateful that she brought us together.
We have lost SO MANY FRIENDS, FAMILY and acquaintances this year and the past few years. It's very sad when someone passes away so young. Although I do not know the extent leading up to Rachael's final moment, I do know we all need to pay attention and figure out how we can help if we are feeling concerned about someone. I don't know the answers and I don't know if we can help, but we can try. Personally, Bryan was like an angel for me, I wish for everyone who struggles to have real life angels. Let's all spread a little bit more love, compassion and kindness to each other and ourselves.
Rest in peace.
Bryan and Melissa's anniversary always has been and forever will be celebrated on Rachael's B-day, October 8th.
